I have few questions:
(1) Let me allow my present company to file I-140 as regular processing (mark as 'I-485 processing' in I-140 part IV) and change it later, using I-824 to convert from AOS case to Consular processing for using AC-140? This is faster and easier. Whether my understanding is correct?
(2) What documents one needs for filing Consular Processing? Is it the same set of documents for filing I-485?
(3) I hear that one needs to get police clearance certificates. Where does they come from?

Based on Perm Trackers in immigration.com, the rate of approvals for EB2 based on the excel sheets seems like this :
2005 - EB2 approval less than 30 % of the filing, 39 % is pending for a looooog time, rest are rejects
2006 - EB2 so far - 41 % of the filing is approved,
2005 EB3 Approval rate 44 %
BEC to Conversion to PERM Processs - Rejection rate 78 %

The CIR bill is definitely coming back. Obama has mentioned it few times that solving the current immigration problem is one of his highest priority. Now we will need to wait and see what changes they can add to the existent CIR bill to help legals. But I would think most of the bill should remain the same since they have wasted a lot of time and effort in coming up with it

The worst hit 140's are EB3 (and that too mostly in NSC and some in TSC). Not a single NSC EB3-140 is coming at < 400 days.
EB2 is coming still okay and EB1/EB2-NIW are pretty quick. So i dont see a good quantity of benefit by allowing Premium Processing only on a thin section of applications ?? It make a difference of few days, not even months.
Where they need to re-instate Premium 140 to give actual relief - they wont do anything.
And not all EB applicants have labor. EB1 and EB2-NIW have no labor. Such applicants would benefit greatly from this rule since USCIS is taking a ridiculous amount of time to adjudicate I-140's.

We are going to kick start a huge "Sign & Dine" campaign in Northern California to support Administrative Fix effort. This is the time to show your support.
This is what we need:
- We need you to join us and show support for IV at a social event this Sunday(01/20) @ 11:30 a.m. in Sunnyvale. PM me or join Nor. Cal IV Yahoo group for details regarding address of the venue. We will have the Admin Fix letters ready for you to sign. So come and put your signatures and we will have some tasty snacks ready for you to eat***
- We need volunteers to call other IV members and motivate them to join the Admin Fix letter campaign
- We need volunteers to do some foot work in areas that have high legal immigrant traffic. I have done this, trust me, it is exciting work. We will provide you with flyers etc, we just need your time.

My LC was filed in Perm process and even got approved but the hard copy got lost in mail handling. Can I have another LC filed from the same company? Furthermore, can I reuse my first LC's postings-advertisements that the company does before filing the LC?

ALl I-485, repeat ALL do not have PD date on it. Only the I-140 approval notices have a date filled in.

But Instead of focussing on getting this to everyone, can you focus on getting just two people to participate in this event?

i went for stamping in india in Feb'09. Mine wasn't in PIMS. They said that my visa is issued but will get the PP with stamp after PIMS clearance and it might take upto 2 weeks. but luckily i got it in 3 days.
those whose I-797 was approved around the same time when PIMS was introduced ( i think Oct'07 ), should be careful about this.
i read somewhere that, they messed up initial data transfer during PIMS launch. so the I-797s that got approved around the same time are more likely to be missed. mine was approved exactly in the same month PIMS was implemented and surely it wasn't in PIMS.
funny story now ( but painful then )..
i was aware and prepared for this when i went for stamping. i was at the window of initial screening officer. he took my dox and verified in their system and started writing 'not in PIMS' on top of my app. i was looking at it and i said 'aah! is it not in PIMS?'. he was surprised ( that i knew about PIMS etc) and gave me a look. now, i told to myself 'dude! shut up' :D
minumum precaution u should take is, take the visa appointment on the first couple of days of ur visit, to have buffer for PIMS.
but, i read, there is another type of delay that's the nemsis of pink 221(g) or something like that. this is for people who work in sensitive industries like defense, biotech, chemical etc. that surely take a long time, coz they need clearance from washington.

When I traveled to Hyd, my luggage went missing. They found that the connecting flt to JFK didn't deliver the bags to Emirates. I got that after 2 days. But they gave me $50 at Hyd and also amount equivalent 2 2nd AC train tickets to my District. They have really good shops at Dubai airport.
One of my friends took a tourist Visa and went to visit Dubai on this return trip to US. He was sent to additional screening at JFK after seeing Dubai visa in his PP. No problems at the end. This is just an info.

After going through all this , now we are hearing discussions that it is safe to maintain a H1B, (just) in case the 485 gets denied.

Any one knows which Airline is good (Cost & Service) from Newark to Bangalore? I have flown AI with stop over in Bom, but would prefer something direct to Bangalore.

Air France has a Newark - Paris - Bangalore flight but their price/ service combination is not great. I flew Jet recently and the experience was the best in my 10 years of coach class flying. They do have a stop over in BOM which is not as good as flying direct to BLR but it is not bad either.

My lawyer says it is moved to TR queue
