I wonder if Rosetta was handicapped during the transition period so people would still purchase the remaining exciting PowerPC products.

that's exactly what i was wondering about! i don't know if EU regulations apply to the ipad, but they certainly do apply to the iphone. and i think, apple has to include a miniUSB port (standardized charger) to the iphone 5 if they want to sell it here in europe. a simply dock connector just won't do.

Jeez - last time we had page after page of arguments about this silly NON ISSUE.

    Article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_External_Power_Supply)

[MoU] 4.2.1...if a manufacturer makes available an Adaptor from the Micro-USB connector of a Common EPS to a specific non-Micro-USB socket in the Mobile Phone, it shall constitute compliance to this article" and, "...An Adaptor can also be a detachable cable."

So Apple is probably already compatible with its USBA to 30 pin adaptor cable, and if not then a supplied Micro USB to 30 pin would be fine.

The line-in port on the iMac, Mac Pro, 15" & 17" MBP's and the Mac Mini.

Fair enough. How did you get onto the subject of the Mac line in in a thread about the iDevice 30 pin connector?

Off the top of my head:

    -Poverty
    -Lack of Education
-Resentment (Much of It Deserved) towards Western Nations
-Religious Fanaticism (which generally correlates with a lack of education)

Lack of education and poverty don't cause terrorism, at least in the case of Islamic terrorists:

    http://www.economist.com/node/17730424?story_id=17730424

No, jihad is one of the central tenets of islam; Allah's religion must be made supreme on the planet. Hence why Osama and others are referred to by muslims as mujahideen, holy warriors, as opposed to terrorists.

The qur'an (numerous times) tells muslims to strike terror into the hearts of unbelievers, muhammad said he was made victorious through terror.

So, islamic terrorism will still go on until the entire earth is made islamic. These are facts, alas.

I'm kinda glad I waited on this, but maybe not. The trial versions of games online is almost worth the price. I don't know a good place nearby to rent games, and I'm not doing that Gamefly or whatever thing for $8 a month because I wouldn't rent THAT many. Those demos make it easier to commit to a game.

I just bought Star Wars: TFU today used. I got the Sith edition after the guy at the store explained it to me. You save $5 overall ($40 versus $15 for original and $30 for addons) and I don't have to clutter HD space that I may need later.

The Magic game I bought from the online store is awesome. There look to be a lot of other good online games as well. I do wish I didn't have to run a network cable across my floor, but I saved $150 doing that. I can find rug and cover that thing up if needed.

So awesome recommendation. The PS3 might be nice, but I love this thing so far.

No. Intel graphic card is not acceptable
Why are people acting like the new Intel Graphics are the return of the plague or something. They're not even that much worse than the 320m's and definitely better than the 9400m's in the generation before. Sandy bridge processors would more than make up for the slight performance decrease in the Intel GPUs.

How much RAM do you have? In my Late 2009 MBP, whenever I play in the 9400m(256 mb ram), it changes the quality to low, which is still pretty good IMO. Just more cartoony, thats all. Im guessing you will have to play on low though, but you *shouldn't* have a problem.
I've got the full 3GB that it'll recognize. I'm mostly concerned about the old video card.

Well. It was nice, for once, to see the Democrats win the bulk of the outstanding issues.

Of course, just around the corner are potentially even bigger arguments about the debt limit and the next budget.

    I can't wait.

Uh, I'd call that contrast! I like to placement of the replacement in the frame, it draws my eyes directly to him, and the looks from the players to his immediate left and right. I has me wondering what they are thinking.

I stand corrected, however, they are still 7 percentiles apart. So yes, shouting distance. But what would the 55-percentile Pentium 4 speed be? 1.5-1.6GHz? Maybe less?

After listening to the sound bite of Trump asking for both Obama's birth certificate and college records, he strikes me as a political opportunist grasping for straws or he is a raciest.

He can be both, can't he?

I'll be there, either at five-ish or four. Are there going to be more than five hundred people queuing before opening? Given the number of online orders, I don't know...

Synchro, I was there too! Got there about 5:45am thanks to the reliability of this country's transport system when no-one's using it (:P) and the queue was mind-bogglingly huge then. I got a t-shirt then, though! :D

I need to pick up not one, but two (honesty to the extreme) Leopard family packs does anyone think Apple will take pity on me and give me two shirts (one for the person I'm buying a family pack for)?

Then again it could piss them all off into gradually abandoning the Mac platform and switching to PC.

So you are thinking ... OK as a graphics pro, I need a new computer to run my Adobe Software now it's not available for my G5 and I am pissed off (at who Apple?), so damn it I may as well buy a PC and Windoze instead of that Intel 8 Core Mac with OS X Leopard I was thinking of.

Don't worry, I don't really think this is a huge danger!

Ok so maybe off track but how much longer can the Darwin/Mach underpinings of both OS X and iOS last?

How long till we get to a much better way of doing the lowest level of stuff that Apple starts transitioning the OS to a new kernal. Reading the wiki page for the Mach kernal it would seem many of Mach functions are either duplicated or at least extracted in to newer OS features like grand central. Plus they've put alot of investment in to the LLVM compiler chain.

I guess I'm wondering if "the Future of iOS and OS X" doesn't involve Mach? Lion/5 being the last in that line. With Apple taking the WWDC to discuss what's coming after these two as much as what's in these two. You'd imagine that transition would be a two year public plan to make sure developers are getting themselves ready and it seems like Lion/5 will be in reasonable shape for those that need to delay a the transition for their own work reasons.

Makes it sound like Apple will keep the two brandings to distinguish the two user experiences.

Apple already overhauled the kernel in Snow Leopard, it's designed to last another decade or two. The kernel is fine and doesn't need to be replaced. It's the file system that needs to be changed out on the Macs.

Also both cores of iOS/Mac OS X are based on the same OS X core. It's the middle/front ends that are optimized for the medium, iOS for touchscreen mobile devices and Mac OS X for computers with keyboard/mouse/multi-touch.

Trump is too much about himself and his personality has to get him what he wants. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way in the White House. He won't get everything his way and he needs to do things based on the citizens, not what he wants.

I'm not sure what kind of image would be out there with his three marriages to those who are all actors/models as well.
